Tanner Nielsen was born and raised an hour North of NYC, in the Hudson Valley. He was an active high school student athlete, earning the Carl Redl award for most outstanding senior athlete at Arlington High School during his wrestling, football, track and field tenure. Our therapist is the NYS single season all-time pin record holder. During Tanner’s 11 year wrestling career, he found his passion for rehabilitation in the athletic training room, doing anything the ATC allowed to help his fellow athletes. Tanner went on to participate in collegiate wrestling where he continued his passion for helping his fellow athletes on and off the mat.
Tanner attended Ithaca College in upstate NY where he earned his Bachelors in Clinical Health Sciences and Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT). The most challenging part of his academic career was learning the ins and outs of the human body during Covid. Tanner supplemented his academics with private coaching and rehabilitation services to local athletes, professors and students. He really enjoys working with multiple populations but found an unexpected passion for working with elderly adults during his final clinical experience at a small hospital in Geneva, NY.
He had always had a special place in his heart for the Raleigh area after spending vacations and summers with family in Cary, NC. Outside of the clinic, Tanner finds joy spending time with friends and family, playing video games, hiking with his two dogs (ask for pictures and he will happily show you), or exercising in one form or another. He is a Hurricanes fan and has cherished memories watching the 2006 Stanley Cup win at RBC in 2006.
