Dr. Moriarty is a native of Poughkeepsie, graduating from Arlington High School and receiving her degree in Business and Administration at Marist College.  Dr. Moriarty always idolized her mother Phyllis Moriarty, founder of Moriarty Physical Therapy for both her hard work and commitment to the field of physical therapy.  Dr. Moriarty followed in her mother’s footsteps and enrolled in the Physical Therapy program at NYU where she graduated Valedictorian. Dr. Moriarty continued to work alongside Phyllis until 2004, when Phyllis passed the torch to Dr. Moriarty and retired from the profession.  Dr. Moriarty continued her commitment to the profession by receiving her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Shenandoah University, VA.  Dr. Moriarty is proficient in manual treatment techniques for patients with varying orthopedic and neurological dysfunctions.  Dr. Moriarty’s philosophy for treatment has been to treat everyone like family, with a patient and warm heart. With a long standing reputation of optimal care, Dr. Moriarty continues to treat semi-professional athletes and post-surgical patients referred from Hospital for Special Surgery, Albany Medical Center, Hospital for Bone and Joint Disease, and Columbia Presbyterian.   Dr. Moriarty has been a Clinical Instructor for Doctoral Students throughout the Tri-state area including NYU, Ithaca College, New York Medical College, and Quinnipiac College.  Dr. Moriarty  specializes in orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation, with continuing education and certifications in advanced manual techniques and functional movement analysis.  Dr. Moriarty is on the Board of Directors for the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Marist College.  Dr. Moriarty’s commitment to her patients is a direct reflection of her commitment to her family and her children.  Dr. Moriarty lives for her children, and when she is not in the office caring for her patients, she is on the soccer field cheering her kids to victory.  Dr. Moriarty enjoys watching movies and Netflix Original movies.  Dr. Moriarty loves spending her time with her husband Dr. Quinn and her children both at home and on vacation.

Dr. Quinn received his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training (sports specific rehabilitation) from Dominican College, NY in 2001.  Dr. Quinn continued his education at Dominican College receiving his Masters of Science in Physical Therapy.  In 2008, Dr. Quinn graduated with his Clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Shenandoah University, VA.  Dr. Quinn has had extensive training and experience in treating patients throughout the lifespan- from babies 5 weeks old to patients 95 years old.  Dr. Quinn worked with pediatrics both in the school setting and outpatient setting at Inspire the CP Center in Goshen, NY.  As a treating Physical Therapist, Dr. Quinn worked closely with a dynamic team of Physicians, Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and Physical Therapists while performing CORE Examinations through Early Intervention, CPSE, and CSE programs throughout Orange and Ulster County.  While at Inspire, Dr. Quinn also treated patients who had experienced athletic and orthopedic injuries. Dr. Quinn was also responsible for the rehabilitation and treatment of patients with Traumatic Brain Injuries, Spinal Cord Injuries, and other varying neurological pathologies both in an aquatic setting and in the clinical setting.  Wishing to return to his love of sports rehabilitation and orthopedic treatment setting, Dr. Quinn relocated to Poughkeepsie, NY and became the Clinical Director for Moriarty Physical Therapy.  While at Moriarty Physical Therapy, Dr. Quinn has continued to utilize his training in advanced manual techniques, functional training, and sports specific rehabilitation for both semi-professional athletes and everyday weekend warriors.  Dr. Quinn works closely with Physicians and Surgeons from Hospital for Special Surgery, Columbia Presbyterian, and Hospital for Bone and Joint Disease. Dr. Quinn is heavily involved in the local community programs, working with students in the Youth Leadership Program.  Dr. Quinn is the Chair of the Health and Wellness Committee of the Dutchess County Chamber of Commerce, where he has helped develope programs for the community to promote healthy living across the lifespan.  With the Health and Wellness Committee, he was successful in developing one of the largest Learn-to-Run programs in the region.  Dr. Quinn also sits on the Board of Directors for the Physical Therapy Doctorate Program at Marist College.  Dr. Quinn is a Clinical Instructor for multiple Doctorate Programs and Athletic Training Programs throughout the Tri-state area including NYU, New York Medical College, and Marist College.  In his personal life, Dr. Quinn loves to exercise and weight-train, both independently and at Cross-Fit.  Dr. Quinn was a competitive swimmer and swim Coach through ESSL and US Swimming with his father and siblings for many years.  He also received his black belt in Goshin-Ryu Karate as a young adult and has continued to utilize the philosophy of strength and discipline in all aspects of his life.  Dr. Quinn is a tremendous fan of Movies, Media, and anything Star Wars.  Dr. Quinn enjoys watching the New York Giants and the Yankees (when they are winning), and loves watching his kids play soccer.  When Dr. Quinn isn’t dressing up in numerous costumes to entertain his patients and friends, he enjoys spending his time with his wife Dr. Moriarty, kids, and dog at the pool, or on vacation.

Dr. Taft graduated from F.D Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park NY in 2009. While in high school Dr. Taft sustained an ankle injury whilst playing football. While rehabilitating his ankle the decision to pursue a career in Physical therapy began in the early stages. Dr. Taft began this pursuit at Utica College where he earned a B.S. in Health studies while being a four year varsity lettermen on the College Football team. Dr. Taft then began his doctoral education in the field of physical therapy again at Utica College. While in DPT school Dr. Taft was exposed to and received clinical experience with a wide variety of subspecialties in the field of PT. Those sub-specialties include working with professional athletes in the Caribbean for several months as well as spending several months at a school for children with Cerebral Palsy. Dr. Taft tends to focus on muscular dysfunctions as he believes that misalignment and dysfunction of muscular tissue can be a major cause of pain and injury.

Dr. Stosz believes that no goal is unattainable with hard work, dedication, and mental focus. Dr. Stosz received her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Springfield college, MA.  During her undergraduate studies, Dr. Stosz competed on the Springfield Pride Volleyball Team, where she was awarded the Female Athlete of the Year her freshman season. Dr. Stosz continued her academic studies at the American International College in Springfield, MA where she received her clinical Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Dr. Stosz specializes in sports rehabilitation and orthopedic rehabilitation.  Dr. Stosz philosophy is that if you incorporate a complete balance of mind, body, and spirit into all of life’s goals and challenges, it will ultimately lead you down the path to success.  Dr. Stosz treatment philosophies are a fusion of manual therapy, functional movement, with an emphasis on postural training.  On her free time, Dr. Stosz enjoys boating of the coast of Connecticut, wine tasting, hiking, and many other outdoor activities.

Dr. Carton is originally from the Hudson Valley, graduating from Newburgh Free Academy in 2009. He then attended Binghamton University where he received his B.A. in psychology, realizing there was a connection between both physical and mental health. After graduating in 2013, Dr. Carton began his doctoral studies at Stony Brook University. Throughout his clinical experiences, Dr. Carton was exposed to multiple specialties including sports rehabilitation, postural re-education, scoliosis treatment/management, and pediatrics. Dr. Carton believes in incorporating functional strengthening and patient specific goals into all his treatment sessions. In his free time, Dr. Carton enjoys strength training, playing soccer, hiking, and staying up to date on new fitness and nutrition related subjects.

Dr. Surman is a Hudson Valley native, graduating from Marlboro High School. Dr. Surman then went on to complete undergraduate and graduate coursework at Ithaca College, receiving a Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree with a minor in Physics in 2016. Dr. Surman believes strongly in a foundation within Evidence-Based Practice and likes to keep himself apprised of new research within the field of physical therapy.

Throughout his clinical rotations, Dr. Surman has worked with a wide variety of musculoskeletal and neurological conditions in both a traditional and aquatic settings. In his treatment sessions Dr. Surman strives to incorporate manual techniques, such as mobilization and manipulation, in combination with corrective exercise to maximize function. As a former pitcher Dr. Surman especially enjoys working with baseball players, and continues to teach pitching mechanics outside of the clinic. In his spare time, Dr. Surman enjoys hiking, camping, traveling, extensive kettlebell workouts, guitar, and long walks with his three dogs.

Dr. Guarino grew up in Dutchess County, graduating from Arlington high school in 2010. She attended Ithaca College where she received her doctorate in Physical Therapy and minored in sport and exercise psychology. Sarah is passionate about integrating both eastern and western medicine for a more comprehensive treatment plan. Sarah traveled to China to study eastern medicine where she learned techniques such as cupping which she uses in the clinic. Sarah is also a Nationally Licensed soccer coach and played soccer in high school and college.

Sarah’s areas of interest include sport rehabilitation, manual therapy and functional conditioning. In her free time Sarah enjoys cooking, traveling, drinking wine and playing with her cat, Jack.

Dr. Barnhart is a native of Apalachin, NY; a small town outside the city of Binghamton. Dr. Barnhart sustained an injury during his years as a high school soccer player, an event which would guide him to pursue a career in physical therapy. After graduating from Owego Free Academy in 2010, he went on to earn a B.S. in Biology from Misericordia University and was a Men’s varsity soccer player during this time. Dr. Barnhart then entered a graduate program at the same institution, and successfully graduated with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2016.   During his studies, Dr. Barnhart has gained invaluable clinical experience in treating a wide array of conditions. He has treated numerous musculoskeletal injuries, postural dysfunctions, neurologic conditions, and has worked in areas of surgical rehabilitation and amputation. 

Dr. Barnhart has developed an interest in muscular pathologies, sport specific injuries/rehabilitation, and postural dysfunctions. He is a big believer in fitness and lifestyle changes, and their positive impact on both our mental and physical health.

Susan grew up in Newburgh, graduating from Newburgh Free Academy in 1996. She attended Mount Saint Mary College where she received her B.A. in Biology to prepare for graduate studies in Physical Therapy. Susan began her graduate degree in 2000 at New York Medical College. She received her M.S. in Physical Therapy in May 2002 at the famous Carnegie Hall in NYC. Susan has provided outpatient orthopedic Physical Therapy for 15 years in the Hudson Valley Region. She is currently enrolled in the transitional doctorate program at Shenandoah University. Susan spends her free time enjoying live country music with her husband, Emilio and staying young at heart with her two daughters Emma and Avery.

Roland’s approach to each patient is always personalized for each individual, as not
everyone’s pain or dysfunction is identical and will not always respond to the same
treatment(s). He utilizes functional strength training, neuromuscular re­education,
modern pain science, patient education, and specifically tailored manual therapies to
target mobility, strength, pain, and/or movement dysfunctions identified by this
individualized evaluation. He recognizes the importance of the brain & nervous system
and its influence over pain, habitual patterns of posture, and movement, and how it can
be engaged to help people gain independence and function in both their daily activities
as well as their active and sporting interests. He has extensive experience in treating
and helping active athletes ­ including runners, lifters, cyclists, and martial artists ­
return to high level performance.
Roland turned to Physical Therapy after a prior successful career as an audio engineer
in the world of film & television post­production. After experiencing the capabilities and
rehabilitative power of physical therapy for a number of his own sports­related injuries
in martial arts & cycling, he was moved to change careers. He graduated with awards
from New York City’s Hunter College Doctor of Physical Therapy program, and worked
in the city for the first few years of his second career. After relocating to Ulster county
with his wife, he enjoys the myriad benefits that the great outdoors offers, including
running, cycling, and hiking. He also enjoys playing drums and seeing live music.

Mrs. Rickard was born and raised in Poughquag, NY where she lived with her parents and two brothers. Mrs Rickard lived in Saratoga for about 2 years after graduating from Arlington High School. After realizing how much more it snows in Saratoga than in Poughquag combined with her strong dislike for the snow, Mrs. Rickard quickly moved back to Dutchess County!  Mrs.  Rickard now resides in Lagrangeville with her husband, our two children and their mischievous dog. Mrs. Rickard started working in the medical field about 10 years ago while she was attending school to become a teacher.  After realizing how much she loved the healthcare field, she decided to change her career path and continue her work in the field.  Mrs. Rickard specializes in medical billing and coding at Moriarty Physical Therapy. Mrs. Rickard’s enjoys spending her free time with her family while boating and going to the beach.

Prior to joining us at Moriarty she had worked for several years in a local cardiology office.   As a Medical Administration Specialist at Moriarty PT, Kasandra is able to handle all the tasks at hand to make the insurance and administration process easy for the patient, all while keeping the patients feel warm and comfortable during their rehabilitation process at Moriarty PT.  Always upbeat and smiling, Kasandra’s fun and kind nature is as sincere as her hard work ethic and diligence to make the patient experience at Moriarty PT an excellent one.  Kasandra enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling, and finding new fun activities to do!

Rebecca lives in Poughquag with her fiancé and her step daughter. She also has two dogs and a cat all of which were rescued. Rebecca graduated from the Swedish Institute of Massage Therapy in NYC and has continued to work as an admin in the healthcare field for several years now. As a Medical Administration Specialist at Moriarty PT, Rebecca makes the insurance and authorization process for all our patients seamless and smooth.  With her experience working in the Medical field, Rebecca understands the undo stresses that patients may feel when dealing with insurance while receiving care.  Rebecca prides herself on taking this stress away from our patients to allow them to concentrate on their healing process during their time at Moriarty PT. When Rebecca is not aiding patients at Moriarty PT, she has a great love and respect for nature and enjoys hiking, running, biking and vacationing at the beach. Gracie is an Australian Labradoodle that treats all the patients at Moriarty PT.  Gracie uses advanced therapy techniques including, but not limited to kissing and cuddling.  Gracie is effective in treating almost any type of injury.  Utilizing the “cute teddybear” technique, Gracie has been successful in making patients smile, feel encouragement, and improve their overall healing process through cuteness.  When Gracie is not helping patients at Moriarty PT, she enjoys walks on the rail trail, chewing deer antlers, and eating carrots.
